Chinese Yo-yo

Chinese yo-yo, also referred to as the "diabolo" is one of the extra-curricular activities offered at HCLS. Chinese yo-yo is a toy kept spinning on a string, tied to two sticks at its ends. Students will learn several tricks, including how to loop, throw and catch a yo-yo.


Lion Dance

Chinese lion dance is one of the extra-curriculars offered at HCLS. The lion dance is a traditional Chinese dance performed on big occasions, such as the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) for good luck, as it is believed that the lion is an auspicious animal.




Sanda is the official sport of Chinese Kickboxing. It incorporates a variety of traditional and modern kung fu movements, along with western boxing and kickboxing. The Youth Kickboxing Program is designed to learn fundamental stances, strikes, and defensive techniques in a safe, encouraging environment. There is no sparring in this program and contact is made on targets which will be held by coaches. Boxing gloves and hand wraps are required for training.
